The Mayor’s Thames Festival which is a free event taking place in mid-September each year, is one of the most spectacular London events of the year – a vivid mixture of live music, dance, feasting, carnival, river races, art installations and street arts. Events take place on the River Thames, the riverside walkways, roads, bridges and public open spaces from the London Eye to Tower Bridge and beyond. Come down to the river in September and celebrate the cultural diversity of London in grand style!

Essentially, we want to provide a celebration for London and its river, a city centre party if you like, one that is free and open to all. We want to close roads and bridges and transform them with culture. We want to educate and transform people’s ideas about the river, too. Most of all, we want people not just to be spectators, but to be active participants in this spectacular London event.
